Winter and Spring GLHS Workshops

Calendar of Events:
2008

Buoy maintenance day Saturday, May 10, 10 am. We need 20 volunteers to show up at the Great Lakes Historical Society and prepare 10 buoys for deployment it will be a 3-4 hour effort. The seven existing buoys will be haled out of the basement and checked on the lawn behind GLHS. Teams of two will "inspect" each buoy according to a check sheet. Any defects will be noted and then repaired from the supplies. There will be three bouys that will be assembled from scratch for deployment this summer. Volunteers may get to splice rope, assemble tag lines, replace chain or shackles, install decals, or whatever is needed to get the job done. There will be several experienced buoy workers who know how to do all this and will assist the teams. Tools will be provided so volunteers need only bring a willingness to help. Contact Ken Marshall - to sign up for this activity.

In-water training is May 17 and 18 at White Star Quarry. For basic and advanced students this is the second part of the workshop. Is you are a MAST member and planning on doing some survey work this summer please join us for a day to review your trilateration in-water skills. If you are interested, please contact Carrie Sowden so she will know how much equipment to bring.

All dates are tentative and subject to change
